Pedernales Fire Department 50th Anniversary Reunion

This October, the Pedernales Fire Department marked its 50th anniversary with a heartfelt reunion celebrating five decades of service, camaraderie, and community commitment. Founded in 1974, the department has grown from a small group of volunteers into a vital force protecting western Travis County.

The anniversary celebration, hosted at the historic Austin Rod and Gun Club, was the culmination of a year-long commemoration. The event featured historical memorabilia, speeches from past and present members, and reflections on the department’s evolution and achievements.

Fire Chief Tony Haden expressed his gratitude: “This anniversary is a celebration of everyone who has served this department, from the first volunteers to today’s dedicated firefighters. I’m honored to be part of this incredible team.”

Lt. Jared Mikeska acknowledged the collective effort behind the event: “Balancing our duties while planning this celebration wasn’t easy, but it came together beautifully thanks to the hard work of everyone involved.”

Assistant Chief Tye Prange shared his optimism for the future: “We’re proud of the last 50 years, and we’re excited to continue building on that foundation. This is just the beginning for Pedernales Fire Department.”

The reunion brought together past and present members, reaffirming their shared commitment to community service. As attendees reconnected and celebrated, a sense of pride and camaraderie filled the air—a fitting tribute to the department’s legacy and a hopeful glance toward its bright future.
