Learn How to Save a Life: AEDs and the Community AED Initiative

When seconds count, having an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) nearby can mean the difference between life and death. AEDs are designed to be simple, intuitive, and effective—even for those with no prior training. Modern Public Use AEDs, like the Zoll AED 3, provide step-by-step voice and visual prompts to guide you through every stage of the process, including how to deliver effective CPR.

The Zoll AED 3 stands out with its Real CPR Help® technology, which offers real-time feedback on chest compressions, ensuring users provide the best care possible. But no matter the brand, most AEDs are designed for ease of use, empowering bystanders to act confidently in emergencies.

As part of our Community AED Initiative, we are working to increase public access to AEDs and ensure they are registered so 911 dispatchers can direct callers to their locations. To complement this initiative, we are offering free community CPR and AED training classes. These sessions are held at local community centers and focus on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to save lives.

Whether you’re a first responder or a concerned neighbor, knowing how to use an AED and perform CPR can make all the difference in an emergency. Interested in hosting a class? Reach out to schedule a session for your group or organization. Contact me, Clay Blount, at 512-264-1476 Ext. 130 or [email protected] to schedule a class or learn more about this lifesaving initiative.

Together, we can build a safer, more prepared community.
